Q1:Are there any known bugs or conflicts with MaxMenus?
A:Not at this time. If you find one, please let us know at techsupport@proteron.com.

Q2:I ordered MaxMenus but my serial number doesn't work. Why not?
A:We have never issued a bad serial number, so the error is most likely in how you are entering it. Make sure you enter the serial number exactly as you received it, using capital letters and the number zero, not the letter oh. If you continue having trouble, don't copy and paste the serial number but close the MaxMenus preferences, then re-open it and enter the serial number carefully by hand.

Q3:MaxMenus seems to be taking up a lot of memory. Why?
A:Under OS X, how much memory a program uses becomes less important because there is no limit to virtual memory, and when the memory is not being actively used it is simply written to disk. To achieve peak performance, MaxMenus caches all of its menus in memory. This does not in any way limit the memory available to other programs, but does in fact significantly improve MaxMenus performance.

Q4:Does MaxMenus offer Command-Tab program switching like GoMac, LiteSwitch and Windows have?
A:Not Quite :-). Our $14.95 shareware program LiteSwitch X offers Command-Tab application switching and comes with an awesome Mac OS X interface. LiteSwitch X is available in a standalone version or as part of a bundle including MaxMenus for $29.95.

Q5:Can MaxMenus automatically hide the other programs for me when I use it to switch applications?
A:Yes and no. If you hold down "Option" when switching to an Application, MaxMenus will hide whatever program you were last using. If you hold down "Option-Apple", MaxMenus will hide all other programs besides the application you are switching to. But MaxMenus cannot (yet) be set-up to do this all the time without holding down special keys.

Q6:Can I use MaxMenus without the colored tabs in the corners of my display?
A:Yes. In the MaxMenus preferences you can control what color and how transparent the tabs are. By making them 100% transparent, you can still have all of the MaxMenus functionality without the tabs.

Q7:Can I use the empty area on my menu bar with MaxMenus?
A:Yes. Open the MaxMenus preferences, select the menu you want to appear when you click in the menu bar, and click "Edit...". Then, in the "Screen Corner" pop-up menu, select "MenuBar empty area".

Q8:How many folders deep can I navigate using MaxMenus?
A:There is no limit. However, only five menus can appear on the screen at one time. To navigate deeper than the fifth menu, let your mouse "hover" over the folder you want to enter. In a few seconds all of the other menus will disappear and the folder you were hovering over will appear.

Q9:Can I drag and drop into menus invoked using a hot-key?
A:Yes. This feature was added in MaxMenus 1.1. Just start dragging and then press the hot-key to invoke the desired menu. When the menu appears, drag and drop like you would in any other menu.

Q10:Why doesn't MaxMenus 1.2 support the intelligent Finder icon in the Dock?
A:Because Apple frequently changes how applications communicate with the Dock, we thought it best to leave this feature out of the main MaxMenus program. We do plan to release an add-on utility in the near future to restore this functionality. Keep watching www.proteron.com for updates.

Q11:Does MaxMenus use haxies?
A:No haxies or illigetimate coding rmethods are used. MaxMenus is extremely stable. It is just as stable as any other regular application.

Q12:Will MaxMenus work with Apple's Intel-based Macs?
A:Yes, a unversal binary is in progress and will be released, most likely in April 2006. Stay tuned for details.

Q13:Is site-licensing available for MaxMenus?
A:Yes. Please email sales@proteron.com with details about your situation and we'll strike a deal that works for you.

Q14:Does Proteron offer competitive upgrades to MaxMenus from other products?
A:From time to time we run specials to encourage users of other software to try MaxMenus. To find out if there are any specials currently available, visit www.proteron.com.
